CorelDRAW Compressed Drawing Format | Corel Corporation | Vector Image Files |
The CDX file type is used by the vector graphics program CorelDRAW. CDX files are a compressed version of the standard CorelDRAW drawing format, which is often referred to as a CDR file. These compressed files use a lossless method of compressing the data known as zip compression, in order to reduce the size of the file and enable faster loading. CDX files are also used for convenient storage and telecommunication, since they have a much smaller size than the original CDR file.
Technical Details
CDX files are stored in the zip compression format in order to reduce their size. The original files are usually several times larger in size than their compressed counterparts. This makes them easier to transfer over a network or store on a hard drive. CDX files are also compatible with many other zip-compatible applications, such as 7-Zip, WinRAR and WinZip, making it easy to share them across other platforms. Since this type of compression does not affect image quality, the data remains uncorrupted after being compressed into a CDX file.
Similar File Extensions
Some other common file extensions related to graphics, such as .dwg, .eps, and .ai, are also used for different purposes and require specialized software to open them.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .CDX) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .CDX extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .CDX file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .CDX extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .CDX extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .CDX file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .CDX file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .CDX file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .CDX file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .CDX file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
