Accelerated Designs PCB Library Format | Accelerated Designs | CAD Files |
The BXL ( BXL) file extension is used by Accelerated Designs for their PCB Library (printed circuit board). A PCB Library allows users to create projects and workflows using components imported from multiple sources. It is also used to store electrical component and PCB design data.
The BXL file extension contains a variety of information, including libraries, components, design details, attributes, instructions, data interfaces and more. This data can then be accessed and reused in all major CAD software programs via the Accelerated Designs’s standard interface. The two main formats for the BXL files are ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) and WinTB (Windows Transfer Binary). Some of the related file extensions include: KiCad, PCBLIB, PADS, DXF, PSM, Gerber, OrCAD, REFDB, and so on.
How to Open a BXL File?
A BXL file requires Accelerated Designs' flagship software program P-CAD. It is a powerful, industry-standard CAD platform commonly used for designing and schematics. Unfortunately, since the BXL format is not openly available, it is not supported in any other software besides P-CAD. However, it is possible to export files in other formats such as PDF, SNAPSHOT, or generic Gerber board format. To import or export a BXL file in other software programs, use a plug-in designed specifically for the purposes.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .BXL) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .BXL extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .BXL file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .BXL extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .BXL extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .BXL file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .BXL file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .BXL file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .BXL file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .BXL file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
