The BNP ( .BNP) file extension is a data storage format associated with Sony camcorders. It is created when a digital movie created on the camcorder is stored on the Memory Stick or Micro Vault. The BNP contains the organized video data, including scene and track information which the Sony Picture Utility software uses for identifying, displaying, and editing the movie clip. The BNP file can be imported to various applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer and Sony Vegas. Furthermore, it can also be used for playback on newer Sony portable media players.
