Boland Calibration Settings Format | Boland | Settings Files |
BCS files are an encoded data file type, developed for use with the Honeywell .HSX and .HXM programming suites. They store Boland Calibration Settings (BCS) information used for calibration of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The knowledge of their supported equipment makes it easier for engineers and technicians to configure their system during installation.
BCS files are binary encoded data files created in a proprietary format not readable by other applications. They are used to accurately specify calibration settings during installation, but should not be edited as they contain critical coding information and any changes can lead to incorrect configuration results. While BCS files are specific to Honeywell systems programming tools, they may be saved with other file extensions such as BCPK, .DAT, or .SUF.
User Interaction & Storage Specifications
BCS files are accessed via the HSX Editor or HRS Controller Programming Software. Both programs use various screens to collect the applicable data needed to create the associated BCS files. Upon successfully adding the applicable user data on screen, the program will write a BCS file to be sent by cable or memory card to the target HRS unit which will read the data from the file. This binary data is essentially stored in a single buffer file and thus requires hexadecimal editors only to modify its contents.
Other File Type Associations
In addition to storing Boland Calibration Settings, BCS files may be associated with other programming software such as ABACOM ProfiLab-Expert, a program used for creating graphical symbols, I/O connectors, off-page connectors, etc., as well as a customizable component library. These other applications may refer to the BCS file format by alternative names such as Before Calibration Settings, or Board Calibration Settings. Similarly, other file types associated with these software applications include BDN, BJT2, .CMP, and ISI.
Programs for WINDOWS system
After installing the required software, the operating system will usually automatically associate an unknown file type (in this case .BCS) with the new application. If this does not happen, we can help the system a bit by selecting the software for it, which it should always use to open files with the .BCS extension.
When choosing the software we can select the system to use this software every time.
Remember!
Using it for the first time it is good to check whether the .BCS file opened in the application can be read by us and opens in a way that allows us to use it. If everything is in order, select this option the next time you open a file with the .BCS extension. However, if the file has not opened correctly, we have to look for a different software, with which we can open files with the .BCS extension. Select a different software from our list and install it on your computer. After the software is installed, repeat inspection openings of a .BCS file. Sometimes you have to repeat the operation several times.
Other instructions
If none of the programs listed by us to work with the .BCS file has not meet your expectations, you can try searching other websites. But remember to avoid downloading programs "that can open any file". These applications not only have very limited functionality, but may also expose you to expense tens of dollars when purchasing a license.
In the vast majority of cases you will find the program dedicated to support the .BCS file, or any other file format. In addition, there is a chance that it will be a free program, and its functionality (concerning the .BCS file) will be extended to the maximum.
It is also good to check
- if the .BCS file has no errors
- or if it has been copied (or downloaded by the browser) thoroughly
