What is ODT file?
The ODT (OpenDocument Text .odt) file extension is the native file format of Libre Office, an open source productivity suite for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and OS/2 operating systems. It is a type of office document file and one of the OpenDocument formats, created for documents which are part of a larger document collection and require special features when compared to plain text documents. What is GDOC file?
The GDOC file extension is a widely used file format for text documents created with Google Drive. It stores information in a structured text file, usually encompassing both plain text and basic elements of formatting and other rich components. The files are typically composed with a type of markup language, including HTML or RTF (Rich Text Format), and saved in the DOCX, DOCM or DOTM format. These files are then saved with the GDOC file extension. [ ⏩ ] GDOC file extension
How to convert the file from ODT to GDOC?
To successfully convert the ODT file to GDOC, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.ODT). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case GDOC (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than GDOC).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. ODT to GDOC. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting ODT files to GDOC files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension GDOC, while before this step we had the ODT file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new GDOC file, or not.
