What is JPG file?
JPG (or .JPG/JPEG) is a commonly used and versatile raster image format that stands for “Joint Photographic Experts Group.” JPG is the most used raster image format in digital photography. It was created by a Joint Photographic Experts Group, abbreviated to JPEG, and is widely used to store photographic images on computers and other digital storage media. The JPG file extension is also commonly used for graphic images, text and text-based formats. [ ⏩ ] JPG file extension
What is PTG file?
The PTG file extension is associated with ArtRage, a painting and drawing software developed by Ambient Design. The PTG files contain graphic raster images as well as vector and animation elements that are used in ArtRage. In addition, the PTG file extension also includes bitmaps and compression parameters for all of the graphic elements within a file. Graphics files can also be compressed or uncompressed when they are saved. [ ⏩ ] PTG file extension
How to convert the file from JPG to PTG?
To successfully convert the JPG file to PTG, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.JPG). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case PTG (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than PTG).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. JPG to PTG. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting JPG files to PTG files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension PTG, while before this step we had the JPG file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new PTG file, or not.
