What is GSI file?
The GSI (Golden Software Interchange File) file extension, which is represented by the .GSI symbol, is a format used in software produced by Golden Software, Inc. This format is used to store datasets in a proprietary and compressed manner. It can be used to store vector or raster data sets, along with related legends and attributes. The data sets can be from Surfer, MapViewer, and Didger, all of which are parts of the Golden Software suite. [ ⏩ ] GSI file extension
What is GSM file?
The GSM file extension is used primarily for audio files created with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) sound format. The GSM codec is designed to work best with speech recordings. It achieves low bit rates while maintaining audio quality and minimizing data usage for mobile devices, such as cell phones. GSM files are most commonly identified using the .gsm file extension. Similar extensions include .gsm6.10, .gsm610, .gsme, .gsma, and .gsmw. [ ⏩ ] GSM file extension
How to convert the file from GSI to GSM?
To successfully convert the GSI file to GSM, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.GSI). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case GSM (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than GSM).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. GSI to GSM. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting GSI files to GSM files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension GSM, while before this step we had the GSI file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new GSM file, or not.
