What is GPX file?
The GPX file extension, also known as the GPS Exchange Format, is a type of file used to store data from Global Positioning System (GPS) devices. It is an open standard format primarily used for geospatial data, and is the most commonly accepted and preferred file type when working with data from GPS devices. GPX files can contain waypoints, tracks, and routes for transferring navigation data among different GPS devices and software programs. [ ⏩ ] GPX file extension
What is GP4 file?
GP4 (.gp4) is a file extension associated with Guitar Pro 4 , a tablature program allowing guitarists, bassists, and other stringed instrument players to store and edit compositions. It is common for guitarists, bassists, and other stringed instrument players to store their musical compositions in tablatures, which help songwriters generate musical phrases that can consistently be heard in the same order. How to convert the file from GPX to GP4?
To successfully convert the GPX file to GP4, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.GPX). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case GP4 (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than GP4).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. GPX to GP4. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting GPX files to GP4 files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension GP4, while before this step we had the GPX file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new GP4 file, or not.
