What is FDF file?
FDF (Acrobat Forms Data Format) is a file extension used for Adobe Acrobat Form Data. This type of file contains structured data and other information associated with a PDF (Portable Document Format) form. It is used to collect data from a PDF form, store it in a separate file, and then send it over the internet for submission. The file has the .fdf extension and can be viewed in any PDF viewer and Adobe Acrobat Pro software. [ ⏩ ] FDF file extension
What is XFDF file?
XFDF (eXtensible Forms Data Format) is a standard file extension associated with Adobe Acrobat, used for facilitating interactive forms. It is similar to PDF, but optimized for form data rather than graphical presentation. Files of type XFDF generally contain information relating to a portable form, allowing the user to take it from one computer to another. [ ⏩ ] XFDF file extension
How to convert the file from FDF to XFDF?
To successfully convert the FDF file to XFDF, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.FDF). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case XFDF (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than XFDF).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. FDF to XFDF. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting FDF files to XFDF files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension XFDF, while before this step we had the FDF file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new XFDF file, or not.
