What is AV file?
The AV (Final Draft AV Document) file extension is the proprietary format developed by Final Draft for its screenwriting solution of the same name. This file type stores a screenplay, TV episode, and other related screenwriting documents in an industry-standard format that is suited for the modern workflow. It can also be used for collaborative projects, allowing multiple editors to work on the same project. [ ⏩ ] AV file extension
What is FDS file?
The .FDS file extension is associated with the FME Custom Format File. This extension is used for data exchange, and it contains settings that can be applied for various FME formats, including coding syntax, field delimiter storage that defines how data records will be delimited, and the order of those records. The syntax in FME Custom Format Files is based on FME workspace configuration files. [ ⏩ ] FDS file extension
How to convert the file from AV to FDS?
To successfully convert the AV file to FDS, you should install one of the applications from the list. After installing the software, open the program and select the file you want to convert (file-name.AV). The next step is to select the target format from the list, in this case FDS (usually converters allow you to convert to several different formats, so check out their features - maybe one of the available formats will suit you more than FDS).
What is a file conversion?
A data conversion is normally an automated process to some extent. The effect of the operation of one program is automatically the input product of another application. If that does not happen we need to help the process a little bit and convert the file on our own, e.g. AV to FDS. To obtain a matched structure of the data, it is necessary to use an appropriate converter.
Program for converting AV files to FDS files is a kind of a "binary code translator" compensating for the differences in the code or translating it in such a way so that another application could use it. For us, as users, the visible change will be only another file extension. (After converting the file, it will be the extension FDS, while before this step we had the AV file). For the programs, the difference is on a much higher level – either the application will be able to open a new FDS file, or not.
